Use Of Non Diegestic Music

EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE

Adele - Someone like you

Adele is a British artist known for her soulful voice especially in this song. We used the instruments from Adele's single 'someone like you' because we knew that the audience would quickly relate to it as they are more farmiliar with the song.  In our first draft from the audience's feedback, they felt that we needed to put in mordern music and also the music that was used is too joyous which does not reflect what the whole documentary is about. We used Adele's music because it is soulful and the instruments are very sad.

The AK beats were used for the introductionary sequence at the beginning for a quick pace. The quick pace of music is very similar to the one in Extraordinary people. It gives the documentary a vibrant atmosphere and mood to make the audience alert and aware before the depressing interview commerces.

Hallulajah was recorded by Alexandra Burke a British singer who won X factor in 2007. This music is joyous but also depressing and sad. It starts off very gloomy which is consistant with David's interview at the beggining. This music was used for the radio trailer.
